Garden Word Search Puzzles for Seniors

Garden word searches in large print

Start with two simple word searches: an 8×8 grid and a 10×10 grid. Words run forwards, horizontally or vertically. Grid letters are 22 point and word lists are 18 point for easy-to-read worksheets.

Print at 100% on A4 paper. Worksheets are on pages 1 and 3; answer keys are on pages 2 and 4. Hand out just the worksheets for a group activity.

Ideas for a shared garden puzzle session

1. 1. Start together

   Read the word list aloud first. Invite each person to choose a familiar word and look for it at their own pace. Look through the first row together if helpful.

2. 2. Share memories

   Use a found word to start a conversation: what did you grow in your garden? Which flowers or kitchen herbs does the group enjoy?

3. 3. Adapt to the group

   Begin with the 8×8 sheet and offer breaks. Move to the 10×10 sheet or the larger grids below when someone wants more to find. There is no time limit.
